Clinical Skills Workshop
Our 1-day workshop is usually hosted at the Clinical Skills Laboratory at the John Radcliffe Hospital or within Oxford colleges (Trinity College pictured above). The aim is to provide clinical skills experience (e.g. blood taking from a mannequin) to approximately 20 local Year 12 students with an interest in medicine or biomedical science.
Aims
Introduce prospective medical students to different areas of medicine and medical sciences to stimulate interests in topics for further self-directed research
Demystify medical school applications and medicine as a career
Provide a friendly and supportive environment for prospective students to engage, ask questions and feel reassured that Oxford Medical school welcomes students from all backgrounds
Offer all of the above at NO COST to students

Basic Life Support and CPR
Phlebotomy – Taking Blood from Mannequins
Clinical Problem Solving (Medical and Surgical Cases)
Performing Sterile Procedures
Listening to the Heart
